In honor of the fact that I’m letting my New Yorker print subscription expire after many, many years — it’s just easier to read it on my phone now; Eustace Tilley would just plotz, I know — I went through my backlog of New Yorker LOLs and realized I had no idea which of them I’d already used and which ones I hadn’t.
It’s even possible that one or two of these aren’t from the magazine at all, but rather from The Rejection Collection. Who can tell sometimes?
So I’m solving the problem by posting all of them at once. There will be some “reruns,” but most of them should be new to most of you.

I think the fact that this is an online comic makes a big difference. A “Jews are cheap” gag would be a lot more problematic coming from Dagwood’s mouth. But the world of online comics is a “leave your sensitivities at the door” environment.
Your thoughts?

Well, I just took a look at who’s reading my book: it’s A. Morey.

I live in a family of news junkies, but I haven’t bought a newspaper in 3 or 4 years. My younger son, who’s almost 19, has probably never bought a newspaper in his life.
So it’s very possible that the kid in this comic has never seen a newspaper in her home. But could this really translate to not knowing what a newspaper is? If he doesn’t walk past newsstands, and has never seen The Front Page, can this genuinely be a foreign concept to a 7-year-old, like a typewriter or a washboard?
