“What does this have to do with either the Superman/Lex story or celebrity nipples?”

Nicole: For those who don’t know this is a reference to the the film the Human Centipede — an ewww in it’s own rite

Because seriously, it would be easier to change the name of the sidebar link to “Cyanide and Happiness (Every Morning Ewww)”
I chatted with one of the Cyanide and Happiness guys at NYCC last week, by the way, while I was waiting in line to see Zach Weiner. I didn’t get his name — it was very noisy — but he’s the tall one. Hey, he didn’t know who I was either, so screw ‘im.
Nice guy, though. He mentioned that they don’t get anywhere near as much hate mail as they used to, which I imagine is because the strip’s been around long enough that people know what they’re getting. He kind of misses it, though. His favorite was the complaints from readers who are selectively offended: “How dare you make fun of dead babies, you bastards. But keep those cancer and AIDS joke coming!”
Actually, I spoke with Tall Cyanide and Happiness Guy a longer longer than I spoke to Zach: he was sick all weekend — probably infected tens of thousands of people in the severely-overcrowded Javits Center — and was so out of it, he e-mailed me that night and said he was sorry I couldn’t make it to his table.

It’s odd when you meet artists who occasionally draw themselves into their own strips, because you don’t always know what to expect: David Willis looked so much like the “David Willis” character that if I’d passed him in the street, I’d probably have thought “Wow, that guy looks a lot like David Willis. Or maybe Walky.”
Randy Mulholland, on the other hand, looks nothing like “Randy Mulholland.”
Francesco Marciulano also looked nothing like “Medium Large Guy” — but to be fair, he never explicitly said this character was supposed to be his stand-in.
This all comes to mind because I’m planning to meet up with Zack Weiner tomorrow at NYCC, and he frequently draws himself into his strip — and I’m just hoping he won’t be sitting behind his table naked.

… this is how Nadsat (the language used in A Clockwork Orange) got started?

I’m fine until the final panel. The “bonus panel,” by the way, is just a drawing of 4 hats (though Picard thought he could see 5)

Yesterday, to mark the 3000th post since CIDU moved to this new format in 2008 (of course, it had been around for a dozen years before that; good lord, I’ve been at this for almost fifteen years???), I asked you to guess which comic strips had been most heavily represented here over those 3000 posts.
According to my count, and most of you guessed this, number 1 is Arlo and Janis, with 181 appearances.
Number 2 surprised me a little: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, with 163.
Argyle Sweater came in third with 123, a great many of those probably falling in the Ewww Files.
Guy & Rodd were number 4 with Brevity (108).
Rounding out the top five was Off the Mark (84), with F-Minus close behind (81).
