Oh yeah, as if ANY store waited until the third week in January to strat marketing for Valentine’s Day!

Marla’s supercilious attitude notwithstanding, I place most of the blame on the stores, not the customers, for creating scenarios guaranteed to create chaos. If you airdropped hundred dollar bills over Wrigley Field, and fans trample one another running down to the field to grab them, that’s on you.

Is this really a thing? Are stores less likely to shut down during major storms than they used to be?

Okay, I’m actually with Stuart here: The customer probably pays with Visa anyway, so why not get a Grumbel’s card and save 10%?
I have a Macy’s card I’ve only used once: It was the only store where I could find a ready-to-wear suit for my hard-to-fit son (who told me two days before the fact that he needed one), and they offered me 20% off if I signed up for their card. Hell, yeah.
I also appreciated the symmetry of using a card one time ever for a suit I knew my son would outgrow before he needed to wear it again.

Well, there really isn’t much more to say about this one, so let’s go on to another 30% comic:
Okay, I see the “basic math skills” part — the shirt should cost $11.89 — but then, I wouldn’t expect either the customer or the sales person to figure that out in her head (which is why cash registers have built in computers to calculate the correct change for a $4.76 purchase made with a $5 bill). Basic math skills have nothing to do with the bizarre leap in logic by which the customer expects the store’s going to pay her to take the item.
