How does this sort of thing even happen??

For what it’s worth, as far as I know, Toni’s always been her aunt. I just hope this isn’t going to be one of those Funky and Wally Winkerbean deals, where Tom Batiuk can’t remember from day to day whether Funky is Wally’s uncle or cousin (Wally was first introduced as Funky’s nephew, notwithstanding the fact that Funky was an only child).
