One ingredient in marshmallows is gelatin, which is derived from various and sundry parts of animals — mostly sundry — though not, as a lot of people (including Leigh Rubin) believe, cows’ hooves.

Timothy Carignan sent me this one as an Arlo candidate. I can see where it could be interpreted that way. I can also see an interpretation that isn’t even remotely Arloworthy, but doesn’t really work as a gag.
Actually, even what I think is the Arlo explanation doesn’ really work for me.
Oh hell, let’s just cut to the chase and say I don’t understand this one. Probably. Continue Reading »

This made me laugh, but I think it would have worked even better without the father’s thought bubble, the kid’s crossed fingers, and the caption: the puzzled obviously-criminal father would have been enough.

Dave: Is it just me… or is that poor placement on the bandages?
Steven Bridgeland:
Mitch: This ought to be something of an Ewww, but actually it was for me just amusing. Maybe you need to be more of a maple syrup fan to be bothered by it.
Okay, wait a second, now that I’m really looking at this one… Why did I not notice how much it needed to be on the Arlo Page? -Bill

Elyrest: Is there more to this than just the obvious dinosaurs wiped out by asteroid?
I keep thinking I’m missing something or the comic is.

Three people sent in this trio: Elyrest (”I know that the Grim Reaper/Death is used in comics all the time, but a triple whammy today made me stop and think. Are Rubes, Reality Check and Strange Brew trying to tell me something?”), Laurie Wylie (”I checked the calendar to make sure there wasn’t some new holiday I hadn’t heard of…”), and Nicole.

The final one is a CIDU.
