Did I run this five years ago? If I didn’t, I should have.

The internal logic here eludes me: Netflix is passé? Does he mean it’s longer viable (certainly not true) or, more linguistically correct (if somewhat incongruous) that it’s no longer in vogue? And I think it’s safe to say that at this point, each year is going to offer us additional ways to view movies (who, not that many years ago, could have predicted how quickly Redbox and streaming would become major sources?)

It’s “officially” on sale today (click image for details). Please note that copies of the previous Arlo and Janis collection are now selling for something like a million dollars, so this is probably a good investment as well.

The first time I posted the link to this Arlo and Janis story (runs for six days), somebody told me they should run it in the newspapers every year. Since that’s not likely to happen, I’ll do the next best thing by posting the link each year. [link corrected; thanks, Kilby]
And on the same basic subject, it’s probably hard to really appreciate this one unless you were 18 years old during a very specific time:

Now that I’ve already
interviewed a lawyer about the legality of Traci Nobles’s tell-all book about former congressman Anthony Weiner, I figured it was about time I actually read some of it.
What a repulsive woman this is!
Seriously.
Some women can claim to have been victims of Anthony Weiner’s improper behavior: but Ms. Nobles willingly took part in a 9-month online relationship with Weiner, a sexting relationship of sufficient involvement that he apparently can make references to the appearance of her genitalia. She has no business coming forward now condemning Weiner and claiming she “wants to set the record straight,” when in fact she’s looking to make some money and steal her 15 minutes of fame.
After 9 months, Weiner was entitled to think of her as a friend — even disgraced former congressmen have a right to have friends — and friends don’t do this. Period.

So… he’s anxious to get inside to his litter box, and then when he’s done he’s anxious to get back outside? Okay, it works pretty much the same way with people and bathrooms. What’s the joke, though?

Arlo’s reciting an Army marching rhyme (for some reason). Got that. But what’s the neighbor’s point exactly?

I don’t know… is this about the technology gap, or the fact that Janis is going insane? And I say this as somebody who recently used his phone’s GPS to track down his mother in downtown Boston

A few months ago, Jimmy Johnson asked people to informally let him know if you’d be interested in buying the upcoming Arlo and Janis collection, the first of its kind in about 20 years. Now that publication is about a month away, even if you expressed interest previously, he’d like you to semi-informally state your intention to buy the book. Doing so still doesn’t legally obligate you to buy it. It’s more like a handshake thing. Or a pre-engagement. Or one of those “save the date” cards. I don’t know… cartoonists, right?
But yeah, seriously, please let Jimmy know, as soon as possible. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that if you pre-order, your copy will be autographed (but don’t hold me — or Jimmy — to that unless you see it in writing somewhere). The address is preorder (at) arloandjanis.com
