Then why mention it at all? This just irritates me: I know quite a few people who have children, grandchildren or other family members to whom they’re not related by blood, and it wouldn’t occur to any of them to even think the words “as if they were my own.”

I sometimes think that when comic strip characters say “In my day…” they’re just pulling some random made-up factoid out of their butts, along the lines of “You know you’re a plugger when…” And up until this week, did Elly’s friend ever look like her father?

Kristen Shaw: This is an old FBorFW, from right after when Mike and Dee’s daughter was born. I can assume it’s sexual somehow, but I don’t get it. What could possibly be the connection between an egg timer and sex?
