In my limited experience, in fact, it’s the bag the newspaper came in that’s the vital piece of this exercise.

Laurie: Huh? Cat’s tummies (when they’re lying upside-down like that) aren’t ever hard unless they’re preggers, are they? I’m pretty sure Ludwig is male (and pretty sure Arlo wouldn’t be happy about impending kittens anyway) so I just don’t get it.

Or maybe he just poked the cat’s belly to wake up the lazy bum, and then just blurted out something nonsensical to be purposefully absurd/obtuse.
