I’m thinking just a twist on a mirage. Instead of a cool pool of water, it’s a TV, recliner and beer. But I notice only one chair.

I wonder whether the guy on the left is glaring because he’s worried about the guy on the right beating him to the chair, or to the (two!) beers?

P.S. At this point, his best backup strategy would probably to go for the remote and then offer a deal.

You’re right, Kilby, but also wrong. Beer me!

Good morning, Mona. I hope you are well.

So strange that the sweater on the guy on the left isn’t in tatters.
The tv looks like it’s adjacent to the front corner of the chair.
They should follow those cables back, maybe where there’s power they can find other amenities.

@ Chip That was my thought, too. Keep following the cords!

    But aren’t they a mirage, too ?

Mirage or not, I took the joke as being that “mere” water is no long sufficient to sustain life — that a “life” without the chance to veg out watching television wouldn’t really be worth living.

    Television as a vast wasteland?

Good morning (well, now goodnight) Terry!

It looks like the guy in red is saying something. Is there, perhaps, a caption missing?

The cables going back to the horizon make me think that isn’t a horizon, but a wall painted to look like a desert scene. And these guys have their entire rec room painted to look like a desert as well, and this is just a game they play.

I saw this as a group of wandering men passing a group of wandering home furnishings.
