Her skills at removing the ex from all her pictures keep improving?

  2. Ron Sep 14th 2017 at 12:31 am 2

I took this as enhancing her dating profile picture.

In the olden days, the task was achieved by physically tearing the ex from all the photos. Now it can be done with Photoshop, instead… and Photoshop proficiency is a useful skill, unlike photo-tearing.

Wow, my take was a lot darker than everyone else’s - I thought she was creating revenge pictures in photoshop.

Brian @4, having just seen a Zoe Quinn appearance I also thought of vengeful exes.

(For those who don’t know: Quinn’s former boyfriend posted a screed about her sleeping with game reviewers to promote her independently-developed game. “Gamergate” became a giant cause for the Internet’s least desirables, who continue to harass and stalk her to this day.)

    Ted got it in one.

I agree, it surely is the idea of removing the ex from pictures, as explained by Ted #1 and others.

Yeah, she got the first ex out but left an obvious hole. For the next one she learned how to blend backgrounds, then on the next one she learned how to smooth out her complexion… Hey, a few more bad relationships, she’ll be the CGI director for the next Jurassic Park movie.

The joke is definitely about removing the ex from pics, but I have another question. Are Zac–oops! Nick’s drawings meant to be stand alone comics or understood only within context of the accompanying Carolyn Hax advice column?

  10. Kilby Sep 14th 2017 at 10:38 am 10

@ tigalilee (8) - The answer is definitely “Both!” - Nick’s comics almost always work as standalones(*), but they also fit well with the material in the column (at least from the miniscule number of columns I’ve read).

P.S. (*) - The exceptions (if any) generally show up as CIDU’s, of course.

    An ad
    that’s bad
    winds up spoofed in Mad

Kilby’s comment made think of that…

    I imagined both Ted’s and Brian’s ideas.

Photo-tearing is a useful skill, if you’re a collage artist.

“Photo-tearing is a useful skill, if you’re a collage artist.”

But not to the other 100% of the population.

“”Photo-tearing is a useful skill, if you’re a collage artist.’

    Who said it was?

The percentage of the population that are collage artists is not zero, but when stated with three digits of precision it rounds to zero.
