    Why “Cafe Chimpanzee”?

Yes, the Bizarro packs a punch!

I like the potato-heads one, but can’t remember what the classic configuration was … Did the kit give Mr. Potato Head feet as such, or was it via shoes, as this cartoon would seem to imply?

The Café Pongo maybe is named that for the Poignant scenes to take place there.

Mr. Potato Head doesn’t have feet, just shoes.

I’m curious, though, why an apparently Jewish sausage vendor is selling pork hot dogs instead of beef.

Powers, no payess, so probably Amish rather than Jewish.

@Powers/Arthur: He’s not Amish; he has buttons. He’s probably just a hipster. They are, after all, “artisanal” hot dogs.

Because he’s meant to be Amish? Or at least Pennsylvania Dutch? That subculture is more associated with artisanal products.

“payess” — another new word for me!

I just happened to discover an alternative take on the “shoes” in an old CIDU post from 2014.

I thought the butcher was Hispanic from his hat.

Is that why sneakers are seen hanging from wires - kids throw them for fun? We have always wondered.
