    And if he gets notified of everything the nanny software thinks is questionable, he will be getting notifications every minute or 2 all day (and perhaps night) long.

    The girl and stepmother have a generally okay relationship, which at times includes leaving her father in the dark. Here I agree the main thing concerning the stepmother is soaring herself the pointless interruptions of monitoring, as earlier comments have pointed out. But also I think there’s the unspoken point that she won’t get in the trap of being the disciplinarian, expected to enforce the dad’s standards.
