The first one is a CIDU for me.

    “Where’s Waldo?”

He looked all over for Waldo and didn’t find him, and so now he’s home with all the presents given out (empty bag) except Waldo’s. Same as it’s been for the last however-many-years it’s been since Where’s Waldo became a thing.

    Mike - 1987, FTR.

1987? Should Waldo have been declared legally dead by now?

@ Bill (5) - Not yet. Just recently we ended up at a different pediatrician (ours was on vacation, but that doesn’t keep kids from getting sick), and my son discovered a large format “Waldo in Hollywood” book, which turned out to be fiendishly difficult, since most of the “extras” were dressed to look (almost exactly) like Waldo. The book was well-worn, but did not look all that old.

That one actually is pretty ancient - 1997…the most recent one I know of was from 2009.

Kilby, Bill was making a reference to the “missing for seven years = declared dead” legalism, which is sort-of true in some places (e. g. England).

Of course! I actually figured it was a Where’s Waldo reference, so I was looking real hard to find him. That’s really funny now that it’s been explained. Mensa will be around later to revoke my membership.

I actually found Waldo once. He was at a bookstore doing a promotion.

To me, Waldo is a novella paired with “Magic, Inc.”

What did Mommy do to Santa?

  13. Kilby Dec 28th 2016 at 11:53 am 13

@ Joseph K. (12) - Nothing that could be printed or even directly suggested in a family newspaper. Cyanide & Happiness gets away with it because it’s not syndicated on paper.
