Comic #1 took me a full minute to get. I’m sure this will be
a CIDU for some. Really, I should include spoiler space…
    but “where’s Waldo?”

LOL. Took me a few seconds, too, but that was hilarious.

Love that the cartoon is almost B&W except for the Waldo gear.

@ 3 - Given that New Yorker cartoons are virtually never in color, one must give the editor credit for recognizing that this cartoon would have been virtually impossible to understand if the clothes had been gray.

I didn’t realize that Waldo wore a bra!

mitch4 @ 5 — the bra, panties, and shoes are greyscale, so they’re the woman’s.

Sorry — I was trying for a faux-dumb comment to be seen through, but failed to provide the right inherent signals or emoticon for that. Still, it’s good to have Ian’s clarification, with its reminder of the term greyscale, where I might have said lazily b&w.

Loved the second one (for obvious reasons)

That’s the funniest New Yorker I’ve seen in a long time. That’s fantastic.

The colorist’s dubious choice was using yellow for her hair.

I don’t think anyone will be able to find Waldo without his clothes. They are what make him distinguishable.

If it wasn’t for the two pairs of shoes I’d think maybe she is Waldo. There’s also two additional pieces of clothing, but it’s difficult to tell what those are. A skirt on the ground and blouse on the bed?

And Waldo appears to go commando.
