the boss thinks he’s complimenting the underling’s work, by keeping the pressure and heat on. The man in the white suit, however, takes the boss’s attention and effort are something other than rewarding.

The “7″ shown on the clock means that this is occurring outside of normal work hours, no matter whether it’s A.M. or P.M.

My hunch is the cartoonist wanted to make a pun on “well done” and kind of bent over backwards trying to make it actually work, using something like billybob’s reasoning to justify it. The result seems to be two different halves of a joke that don’t fit together.

That sort of dedication is rare.

The boss can’t possibly be complimenting the underling, because it’s a thought bubble not a speech bubble.

That guy is toast if he doesn’t finish that report soon.

Why is the guy in the oven dressed like (old) Elvis?

“That sort of dedication is rare.”

mitch4 - That, combined with the comic, is funny.

Well done! Or, rather, good job.

The boss is congratulating himself in creating a situation where the employees keep working hard no matter what the conditions are like.

LeBron James also performed well in the Heat.

    I dunno… this cartoon’s half baked.

The guy was in trouble ’cause the other day he got sauced at work.

  13. Mark in Boston May 8th 2013 at 10:08 pm 13

    He’s a temp worker.

I really, really want to be in on this, but I can’t come up with anything that tops Mark in Boston’s pun. My reputation as a punster is at steak! (Yeah, yeah, it’s lame…)

He’s really racking up the sales.
