(and no, the previous strips were all one-off gags, so there’s no context to be had here)

The crescent moon, the car, the pie chart, the horse, the garbage can, and the plant are all making like Pac-Man.
The Vicar Feb 28th 2013 at 12:34 am 2
Don’t forget the garage.

Yawning is contagious?
Frank the curmudgeon Feb 28th 2013 at 02:04 am 4
“… and maybe the horse will learn to sing.”
Cidu Bill Feb 28th 2013 at 02:15 am 5
I approve, Frank.
Proginoskes Feb 28th 2013 at 02:53 am 6
@ Frank the curmudgeon: I thought that punchline was: “And maybe I can make the horse fly” …

I like Kamino Neko’s idea (@1) about everything yawning. Other than that, the only thing I can come up with is that he spent an all-nighter and only came up with a simple pie chart, but I can’t believe that that could be what the author intended.

OK, the yawning thing seems to make sense, but what’s the significance of “Friday morning…”? Assuming the artist knows anything about astronomy, that’s a waning crescent moon rising in the east an hour or two before dawn. Not that that really helps.

The book and the drapes are also ‘open’. It’s interesting, but I’m not sure I ‘get’ it…
thwgt Feb 28th 2013 at 07:55 am 10
Yeah, it’s a yawning thing (and it was 1958Fury @3 who got it, for the record). Also, the hood of the car is open.

@DemetriosX - I don’t know about you, but come Friday morning at work I’m doing an awful lot of yawning.
Its Justme Feb 28th 2013 at 11:00 am 12
Open all night.
JHGRedekop Feb 28th 2013 at 11:12 am 13
It’s actually remarkably effective — once I clued in that Horse was catching a yawn from everything around him, I caught it too.
Keera Feb 28th 2013 at 12:01 pm 14
Great. I get to the end of the comments and - yawn.
Boise Ed Feb 28th 2013 at 12:49 pm 15
The comic itself is a yawner.
Kilby Mar 1st 2013 at 04:19 am 16
@ Boise Ed (15) - That’s exactly why I sent this item in to CIDU, most of the other DSotH strips that I have seen have been excellent.
Kilby Mar 4th 2013 at 04:53 am 17
While it is not the solution to the 8-Feb-2013 strip, the strip for 3-March offers good potential for juxtaposition http://www.gocomics.com/darksideofthehorse/2013/03/03

I’d figure he pulled an allnighter for work, he is throwing out the last version and yawning as he has been up all night. I cannot read what it says on the pie chart, but that might help figure it out.
Boise Ed Mar 11th 2013 at 04:07 pm 19
It doesn’t say anything on the pie chart; just grey, squiggly lines.
