Because U always comes after Q?

Sure! Reading left to right, the “U” should be on the other side of the “Q.”

    (1) You’ve evidently never been to Dubuque, Molly J.

    (2) That picture was from a visit to Greece, right?

@ Proginoskes 2(2) - I was about to object that the Greek alphabet doesn’t have a “Q” in it, when I realized that they were visiting, and had someone take a snapshot of them.

    A Q is just an O with a boner!

Jesus! Just put down a towel!

Dragon #4: But just yesterday I saw promos for a music or performance group that seemed to have a feminist outlook, and the uppercase Q’s in their name seemed meant to resemble the circle-with-cross-below sign used for Venus and “female”.

And sometimes, U doesn’t even come at all (QI, for example).

    Damn considerate of Q.

I’m sure it’s a comment on how most couples agree on a side of the bed each sleeps on, and obviously, U is used to being on the other side. I am clearly not all the way awake though, as it took me until Jeff’s (7) comment to catch your double entendre, Bill.

Seeing U next to Q like that just looks… awkward.

(Just auqward… See what I mean?)

This cartoon was initially confusing to me until I realized that it is a simple visual play on the fact that all English words that begin with a Q are followed by a U. (queen, quite, quota etc.) In other words the U always belongs on the right of the Q, not vice versa….

… and the last contestant crosses the finish line!

At first glance, I immediately assumed the Arlo joke was being made! I completely thought “U” was going to have a dissatisfied look on her face and that the spelling rule would be the hidden understood punchline! Interesting effect this comic had on me!

She later left him for Smokey Robinson.
