(by the way, why does the counselor have a framed photo of a bone?)

Dogs tilt their heads when they’re confused.

When my dog doesn’t seem to understand what I’m saying she cocks her head akin to the unclothed dog in the comic. A literal take on a common marital refrain.

A loved one. An object of desire.

    Like the framed “first dollar”?

Maybe the bone is a still life painting, much like humans have a bowl of fruit. Usually those are hung on the wall, and photos are usually for loved one, but he bone -> fruit analogy is a better analogy.

I guess I won’t bother submitting this one as an LOL.

I was thinking about sending this one as a synchronicity and a LOL. There was another comic just a week or so ago, though I can’t remember which… it showed a classroom of dogs. The ‘pups’ all head their heads adorably cocked to the side, and the teacher was saying something like “well, I can see I’m going to have to find a different way to explain this to you…” It was really quite cute!

I like the horned-rimmed (almost) glasses on the female dog, in the style of The Far Side.

@Heather: I’d like to see that one. Our pugs do the head tilt, one way and then the other, back and forth, and we love it.

And it just occurred to me that we gave our pugs “high end” dog bones for Christmas, and our fawn pug went absolutely out of his freaking mind over it, so I can see the bone being an object of tremendous desire worthy of a picture… an actual personal bone, not just a still life.

Regarding him not wearing clothing, none of them would normally be wearing clothing - after all, they are dogs (okay, forget the fact that they talk like humans) - obviously she has to be wearing a top or else this would be canine porn.

A dog’s head tilt is a “Baroo?” moment. Didn’t you guys ever read cuteoverload.com?

Apparently dogs do that because they are trying to focus on the human’s facial expression, and human faces are more expressive on one side than the other. Dogs attend to our faces and where we point; wolves and chimps don’t care about those forms of human expression. An astute Google search would probably discover where I gleaned this info, but it’s Saturday and I’m lazy.
