Pan handlers often have a sign saying why they need money and/or can’t work. This guy has an agent so bad that he can’t even get an NBA contract when he’s 17 feet tall…

The guy is tall enough to get on any basketball team. Regardless of how well he does or does not play. His agent was so bad he could not get him a tryout with a pro basketball team and so he is left to beg on a streets for money.

He is begging for money with a sign stating why he is begging. If a person who is THAT tall can’t get into the NBA or ANY basketball league somewhere, then he really DOES have a terrible sports agent.

Reminds me of the former Utah Jazz man, Mark Eaton…

Training to be an Auto Mechanic. Was found by a JC coach, played about 42 minutes at UCLA, then was fortunately drafted by the Jazz.

As Frank Layden (among others) said: “You can’t teach height”.

This must be the ten-foot Pole everyone’s talking about …

(Well, SOMEONE had to say it!)

This dude looks close to 30-foot.

The Trailblazers have a history of drafting tall guys who can’t stay healthy enough to play. They took Sam Bowie instead of Michael Jordan, and Greg Oden ahead of Durant.

Add Joel Przybilla to that list

He seems to have no problem finding clothes that fit him.

I mean, I’ve heard of seven-foot-tall people having lots of trouble finding clothes that fit, but here we see jeans that are ten feet tall, and an even taller shirt.

I thought he was saying he was a horrible sports agent. But he has one makes it a joke.

I am appalled that “Dave’s Shoe’s” (the shoe store in the background) uses an apostrophe in the word “shoes.”

J-L, you’re not seeing the whole sign. It reads “DAVE’S SHOE’S LOST ITS MATE”.

When these were more recent, I wanted to post that a couple of strips had been doing series on that sort of sidewalk posters, but couldn’t put my finger on them readily (while reading CIDU).

I’ve now tracked down one of them — a pretty good sequence in “Candorville”, July 30 to August 03. The starter is at http://www.gocomics.com/candorville/2012/07/30 .

J-L @ 10 - not only that (and maybe a physics major can confirm), but his feet and legs are not built to hold the excess weight and he surely would not be able to stand as balance would be way off too. I’m thinking the world’s tallest man who passed away fairly recently had that problem, and comic guy is way taller than he was.
