That blender has very flat sides. I wasn’t even sure that’s what it was, even with the margarita mix, until I saw the cord.

But them I’m confused. Who blends water with margarita mix? And a carrot?

  2. blogan Jan 10th 2012 at 07:26 pm 2

The second one’s a CIDU for me, too. As best I can tell, it’s a “funeral.” The water and the nose is all that’s left of Frosty. I have no idea where his mouth and eyes went. Melted Frosty is about to be blended with margarita mix, according to his last wishes. I also don’t know why Frosty melted. Everyone else is still frozen.

But that can’t be it. It’s not even slightly funny.

I think Frosty’s role in the margarita is as the ICE — you know, a frozen margarita? So I guess he died of something other than melting — heart attack, maybe. I’m not sure who puts a carrot in a margarita (and I really hope they didn’t include the corn cob pipe or eyes made out of coal). And plus, some careless funeral home attendant seems to have spilled some frosty on the table. No tip for you, sir.

Was Frosty a drinker? Why he want to be made into a carrot margarita?? And how do those other snowmen walk and talk without magic silk hats???

Frosty “dies” when his hat is removed. At least, if the television programs of my youth are to be believed.

And, as someone pointed out on a different comic, Frosty had a button nose, not a carrot.

  7. rain Jan 10th 2012 at 10:00 pm 7

    Maybe that’s not his nose.

“… ask your doctor if beta carotene is right for you. If you get a carrot stick lasting more than 4 hours, consult a physician immediately…”

  9. Kilby Jan 11th 2012 at 12:06 am 9

This is off topic and nit-picky, but I think there is an “about” missing in the long CIDU bank headline up at the top of the page (between “care” and “what”).

  10. James Pollock Jan 11th 2012 at 12:15 am 10

No, no “about” needed there, but on the other hand, I think you do need “outside New Hampshire” after “next time anybody”. Plus, of course, the missing capitalization.

  11. Cidu Bill Jan 11th 2012 at 12:28 am 11

But nobody cares whether anybody inside New Hampshire cares about what anybody in New Hampshire thinks, so it’s all good.

As for the capitalization, that’s a function of this template, and can’t be changed. That’s what you get when e e cummings gets involved in web design.

  12. James Pollock Jan 11th 2012 at 12:41 am 12

No, Bill, I think you misunderstand: I’m pretty sure people who are themselves still inside New Hampshire might have to care what people in New Hampshire think about things in the next four years, even if nobody outside New Hampshire does…

(I’m also pretty sure that they don’t care what you or I or anyone else outside of New Hampshire think about anything, so it DOES balance out in that regard.)

  13. Arthur Jan 11th 2012 at 02:14 am 13

I’m pretty sure people who are themselves still inside New Hampshire might have to care what people in New Hampshire think

Yes, but if they do care, they don’t have to pretend to care, so Bill’s title is still right.

  14. MollyJ Jan 11th 2012 at 09:30 am 14

I suspect a number of New Hampshireites (New Hampshirians??) will care very much what folks outside New Hampshire think once the general election rolls around.

Do we know how New Hampshire feels about carrot margaritas?

  15. CIDU Bill Jan 11th 2012 at 11:06 am 15

Maybe they do and maybe they don’t, Molly; but cares either way?

  16. Paperboy Jan 11th 2012 at 11:57 am 16

Who cares who cares who cares who cares?

  17. Morris Keesan Jan 11th 2012 at 12:21 pm 17

Now I’m confused. Am I supposed to care about different things when I’m in New Hampshire than I do when
    I’m not in New Hampshire?

(When my son was almost two, I played the “got your nose” trick on him for the first time, and
he spent the couple of minutes trying to pull his nose off and look at it.)

  18. Kilby Jan 12th 2012 at 06:08 am 18

@ Morris Keesan (17) - I was very surprised both by how early the “got you nose” trick became amusing to my son, AND by how quickly it became “just a nuisance”. Already at the age of three, he is no longer interested nor amused by people fiddling with his nose.

  19. Ooten Aboot Jan 12th 2012 at 06:09 am 19

I’m sure all this animosity toward New Hampshire must have a Freudian explanation, but I don’t see what is has to do with noses.

  20. Kilby Jan 12th 2012 at 06:10 am 20

P.S. Nuts, that was not supposed to sound like regional slang, I simply forgot the R on “your”.

  21. Kilby Jan 12th 2012 at 06:13 am 21

@ Ooten Aboot (19) - The “off-topic” NH discussion is related only to the headline at the top of the page (my fault, @9), and not to the noses in the comics. There isn’t any other forum to discuss general CIDU page design.

  22. Elyrest Jan 12th 2012 at 08:56 am 22

Kilby - We usually don’t need another forum to discuss anything we want to talk about. We just do it.
