Actually, no joke: a study a couple of years ago showed that in trials where the judge decides the verdict, defendants fare significantly better when the decision is made just after lunch than just before lunch.

I’m sure I’m missing some good candidates for the list, maybe even somebody who beats out O.J. for the #1 slot. Here’s where you can tell me who I’ve left out.

(A few months ago I would have just posted this here, since this is not inconsistent with the sort of off-topic discussions we often have on the CIDU site; but since the CJA site is up, I’m shunting it over there, so CJA will get its quota of traffic for the day, my publisher will be happy, and I can spend the afternoon cleaning up after last night’s Chanukah party)

Update: As of midnight, this post was already on the verge of having the most responses of any CJA post ever. Now granted, in this case “ever” means “since this past August,” but still…
