I don’t know how it’s even possible — I’d be inclined to bet that it isn’t — but apparently the LOL collection queued up for this morning simply disappeared into the void. It was scheduled to go online at 12:02am, and then it was gone. I can’t begin to guess how to recover it.

My apologies to anybody who sent me comics that had been included in today’s page.

Mobility

It’s been my experience that mobile versions of websites — that is, the versions to which smart phone browsers are supposed to default — have pretty much the same content as the “computer browser” version (is that going to become a retronym, like “analog clock”?); and in many cases they give you the option of viewing the standard version of the page, though it often doesn’t look or work as well (CIDU lies somewhere in between: you can view the standard version — the only version available — on most smart phones, and everything works, but you’ll probably have to scroll all the comics and it’s a bit of a pain to work with).

Okay, where was I?

Oh yeah. This comic seems to imply that mobile versions of web sites are empty pages (which I’ve never seen to be the case) and that the server is at fault, which totally confuses me.


The metatext, by the way, is “They have to keep the adjacent rack units empty. Otherwise, half the entries in their /var/log/syslog are just ‘SERVER BELOW TRYING TO START CONVERSATION *AGAIN*.’ and ‘WISH THEY’D STOP GIVING HIM SO MUCH COFFEE IT SPLATTERS EVERYWHERE”

“Cowboys and Indians” was never a “thing” in the old west — and when you think about it, why would it have been? Cowboys and farmers were natural rivals. Indians had their issues with the army and with settlers.
The “cowboys and Indians” dichotomy was actually an invention of “Buffalo Bill” Cody.

An Error in Judgment

According one of the Rapture’s “official” web sites, believers “refer to [May 21] as Judgement Day, as they intend to be saved by Jesus in the Second Coming. Non-Believers refer to it as May 21 Doomsday.”

Okay, just to clarify things a bit… non-believers refer to it as Saturday.
