Once again, I’m struck by the fact that Len and Abby are easily the worst parents in the history of comics. And of course by that I don’t mean humorously-incompetent-in-a-comic-strip-way bad parents, but there-are-parents-like-this-in-real-life-and-holy-shit-why-is-there-no-law-providing-for-mandatory-sterilization bad parents.

Oh, and by the way, Abby’s a psychologist.

The President’s State of the Union address boiled down to this message: “The era of big government is here as long as I am, so help me pay for it.” He dubbed it a “Winning The Future” speech, but the title’s acronym seemed more accurate than much of the content.

No, this was Obama’s screw-up all the way: you do not coin a phrase without thinking about the acronym first.

A Tale of Two Bar Mitzvahs

It’s traditional, for a child approaching his or her bar- or bat mitzvah to choose a “mitzvah [blessing] project.” My younger son ended up volunteering with a local Big Brothers-type organization. Close to six years later, they’re still hanging out together.

And scarily enough, young Noah is now gearing up for his own bar mitzvah, and his project is raising money to bring water to communities around the world where people are dying for the lack of it. If you’re feeling at all charitable today, please visit this site and consider giving them a few bucks: not for me, not for Noah, but because this is one of those times when throwing money at a problem can actually help.

We have tags, of course, for comics that really should have been published years earlier than they were (or not at all) — but I don’t ever remember seeing a comic that showed up several years early: unless I’m misreading this, Arlo already has himself a 3D television, which seems highly unlikely.

Duck

A Pennsylvania woman is suing Disney, claiming that on her last visit to Disney World, an employee in a Donald Duck costume groped her breasts, leaving her with post traumatic stress disorder resulting in difficulties eating and sleeping.

Now, I’m in no way excusing what this guy did. I’m perfectly okay with him seeing the inside of a jail cell. There’s a really simple rule of thumb here: you don’t grab a woman’s breasts without her permission. Ain’t really complicated.

That being said though… post traumatic stress disorder? Seriously? If you’re suffering from post traumatic stress disorder because a guy in a Donald Duck costume groped your breasts — to the extent that a guy in a Donald Duck costume can grope anybody’s breasts — then I’m sorry, but I have to think you had some issues before ever setting foot in the Magic Kingdom.
