You never graduate from Parent School but you can drop out. For instance, my mother wants nothing to do with me any more. Perhaps she never liked me any way.

My first thought was Ewwwww. Then I read more carefully and saw that he threw out the dirty diaper in panel 3 and the thrown item is a football.

And yes, this comic hit the right spot for aww, not too saccharine and like the flower commercial - it's not her birthday, it's just a day, send her flowers. It's not Father's Day, but that doesn't mean dads aren't out there being awesome.

Blinky - so soon?

I'm in college, I'm 22. My sister is in college, she's 19. I am much less independent due to illnesses, including the ongoing one. (Apparently they *don't* care if you take medication that prohibits driving at the DMV. Scary! Even though I've been on them long enough, well, I don't trust myself behind the wheel.)

My sister has said that she is never coming back... she's coming home for labor day weekend. She hurt my mom by being so mean about it, but mom said the door's always open. Okay, that's seriously making me tear up.

I always feel sorry for those who say a kid is an 18 year whatever (negative or positive). If that's the case, then it's not going to be a very happy family, you know?

12:01am 18th birthday (pretend teenagers are asleep then), parent(s) come in with boxes. "Come on, you're moving out." "But I've got a test tomorrow... I'm still in high school!" "You're an adult now."

Hate the cut-off so much because it meant that I still had the same sick body (kidney stones) but one week, mom was in charge and I was being spoiled in the kid's ward. The next, I was in the busy adult ward, and before the procedure it was almost funny - "I'm 18, I signed the release," all slurred. "Did her mom sign it? How old is she?" *conk*

Plus, it is still a very culture-specific cut off (not just because of the laws in America) and recent - the nuclear family vs living with your parents even after marriage is new here and in Europe.

Oh well, now I've stopped crying. I was worried I was going to start sobbing and... what call Mom and say I love you? She'd be freaked out by the crying. Maybe a text is a better idea. Dog bless technology!

Oh here they come.

Also my mom has always been the loving/caring parent, even before the divorce. I am building a new relationship with my dad, but it's more equal - I definitely have more control... and know more about what we're doing than he does. (Watching Indian films.)

Very nice. My dad is in his eighties, and the *youngest* of his six kids is forty years old. I am quite sure that he would agree that you never graduate from dad school.

Here I had my eye-roll locked and loaded but was then completely disarmed by this comic. Definitely charmed the heck out of me.

Driving home from a visit to my mother's house last week, I said to my 20-year-old son "You know how you always bitch and moan when I tell you you still have to call me every time you get to Boston [where he goes to school]? Well, I'm 55 years old and I have to call Grandma as soon as we get home."

When my kids ask me when I'm going to stop worrying about them, I say "Three days after I die."

Cute. Although I must admit, I've slowed down as the kids get into puberty. Maybe it'll pick up again later, but I miss them, especially as pre-schoolers. So that's why grown-ups talk about grandchildren so much. Oh wait - I'm a grown-up geezer now ain't I.

And of course EmpressPenguin would like it. She gives her egg to the male to take care of, and runs back into the sea. : )
