Mike (8)

If scant knowledge of Fibber McGee and Molly qualifies one as a "whippersnapper" then those who know it must be seriously geriatric (which I doubt).

I am among those who are only vaguely familiar with the radio show, which by your apparent definition should make me a whippersnapper too - though at 50+ I really doubt it.

Like FeelinOld, in my childhood, my mother used a phrase from that show ("taint funny McGee") to indicate something I'd said or done that wasn't appreciated. So I knew I was being mildly reprimanded, but that was as far as my knowledge went. Didn't know the show, didn't know who McGee was (other than a (hopefully) temporary nickname for me.

So, what's between "Whippersnapper" and "Geriatric"? Boomer?

I assume the headline is an Indiana Jone reference...

I mustn't be THAT old, yes I know Fibber McGee and Molly, have never really been sure where the closet came in 'cause I can't remember ever hearing any of the radio shows, but as a kid remember my mom referring to my room as 'Fibber McGee's Closet' (Hey that's normal for a boy, no?)

And I'd agree with the no booby traps coalition, a drawer that's full can be enough of a booby trap in and of itself, and try getting one closed after taking something out then putting it back later (everything USED to fit, REALLY)
But that's nothing compared to an overloaded vanity, unless you open it just right the sink get's filled with the detritus of the resident female...

"Stick" is Sabra Klein's nickname.

And yes, Pre-Teena's ending was cute, although I found adult-Teena extremely creepy.

I don't see any need to presume booby traps here. Jeri isn't even mentioned. The drawers are just stuffed full.

Y'all are right, there has to be a booby-trap element going on.

If I may ask a fill-in-the-blanks-for-me-please question, is Sabra just Stick's formal name, or is that a different character? Thanks!

In one of the linked articles yesterday from the end-of-Cathy thread, there was discussion of how some other strips have handled coming to an end. They didn't mention Pre-Teena, but I think I recall that it did something good with that -- not exactly a "What happens to everybody in the future" as an accurate flash-forward, but as envisioned by Teena in a dream or reverie.

Hmm, could be stuffed full. But I think she has her drawers booby-trapped. Kind of typical for her age. She likes to poke at Jeri too. I can see her asking Jeri to hand her a marker just to get Jeri to open a desk drawer.

I like how Jeri and Teena get along. There is antagonism, but that's not unusual for siblings at their ages. Tricky combination, a pubertating girl with a little sister not quite there. Sometimes the two have little conversations on one or the other's bed. I think they're forced to stick together because of the hands-off and sometimes antagonistic parenting.

And anyway, I take a lot of Jeri's comments as dark humor rather than mean-hearted. Cute strip. It's how I found CIDU: searching for one of these quite a while back.

Arthur has it right, though I had to ask Google who the heck Fibber McGee was. =B^)

Also, about that last panel: she keeps the markers in her sock drawer because there's no room in the desk drawers.

KN -- I think of Jeri as always prepared to give Teena a hard time, but just using whatever falls her way and probably not interested enough to go snooping something out.
