“Poodle Lathes” is definitely funnier the 2nd time ;)

    Two thumbs-up for “Poodle Lathes”!

Reminds me of the classic Far Side, “Poodles of the Serengeti”.

I kind of like Poodle Lathes coming up twice…

It lets me read it as ‘Poodle lathes. *beat* Poodle lathes.’ Which is way funnier…

Wouldn’t it be Poodles Lathes? Sort of like like Attorneys General? ;-)

    “Facts are stupid things.”

Well, they are. Explaining them is what requires the intellect.

Her aim is so bad she’s only hit the board once, and on the frame at that. If she misses with all five darts, does she write a letter about something she actually likes?

I spent a few seconds comparing the two “poodle lathes” panels, trying to see if I could Spot The Differences.

    Morris Keesan #8:
The difference is that one of them is by Piraro. Otherwise Bill wouldn’t have put in
    links to him and Bizarro.

Clearly I set up this week’s LOL page in my sleep.

The cool thing about the Internet is that now that I fixed everything, it’s your comments that don’t make any sense.

Cidu Bill - Our comments often don’t make any sense.

Bill, would you like to place a bet on how likely it is that there’s a permanent cached version, somewhere, of the page with two lathes?

  14. Morris Keesan Aug 15th 2010 at 01:52 pm 14

On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a poodle.

    Detcord @6, LOL!

And I’m so sorry I’m late to the party. I’d like to see if a double Poodle Lathe would do me, too.

  16. CIDU Bill Aug 15th 2010 at 02:29 pm 16

Morris, I suddenly got a mental image of Picard shouting “I… see… TWO lathes!!”

  17. Heather D Aug 15th 2010 at 02:31 pm 17

Looking at the lathe part at the poodle’s nether regions, I have to wonder exactly how he’s being held in there.

Looking at the rather stunned expression on the “finished” poodle, I think I have a good idea.

“I’d like to see if a double Poodle Lathe would do me, too.”

    Is that an Arlo/Nicole remark?

I got a mental image of Yossarian saying “I see everything twice!”

  21. Susan T-O Aug 15th 2010 at 06:25 pm 21

Heather D, I think you just changed this from an LOL to an EWWWW!!! :-)

  22. Steffen Aug 16th 2010 at 01:04 am 22

David A. Rooney: how good is your aim when you’re covering your eyes to ensure a random result?

  23. Todd Aug 16th 2010 at 04:38 am 23

Recently, Wiley did a strip where Danette (? the unhappy daughter from his regular cast) used a dart board to put together a “tip” to give to the local news. It makes me think this is how he decides what he’s going to use the strip to complain about. When you get down to it, are political cartoonists any higher evolutionarily than people who write letters to the editor?

Chuckers @19, around here it is. ;-)
