I like Mary Lou. She’s cute without ticking over into cloying. (And “aww” right backatcha)

Such a nice contrast to Luann’s Shannon.

I’m not a regular reader of this strip so I don’t know the names of the characters. The entire meaning of this strip can be changed with just a slight difference. With tears running down the man’s face, onions are an excuse for him crying. Without tears, they are an excuse for his halatosis.

Whoops, I missed the part with the man being called “Gene”. I guess I was too heavily concentrated on the idea to notice this detail.

Mary Lou and Gene have such a great relationship. It’s nice to have a step-kid not being all ‘you’re not my father!’ (OTOH, give her a few years, I guess…)

I saw this post early this morning (my time), but I wasn’t sure what “Awww” meant (sarcastic, or “isn’t this nice” - which could also be sarcastic).

As noted before, Jimmy Johnson incorporates long themes into his cartoon, and this sequence is (or perhaps I should say, maybe) setting the stage for a long-telegraphed denouement. The kid is growing up - and I don’t mean Meg (aka Shrimp).

I like Arlo & Janis and it was Jimmy Johnson who gave me the lead to CIDU. So I’m hoping the “Awww” was sincere.

I’m the opposite of Detcord @7: it was CIDU that led me to A&J, and for that I am forever grateful, as it’s one of the most awesome comics I’ve ever seen. This past week’s strips have been just amazing. I’m sincere in saying “Awww,” not just to this particular strip but the whole past week.

Rainey, I think it’s safe to assume he has tears in his eyes.

I thought this strip from last week was touching, too:

When did Gene go from brown-haired to blond?

Keynote: since today’s colorist screwed up.

Turquoise Cow #8- You are correct in your assesment of Arlo & Janis.
