George, I was pointing out that if a man caught a metal fish that had “Jesus” on it, he could just assume that it was random junk thrown into the water that he caught. However, if he caught a living “Jesus” fish, he might be fooled into thinking he caught Jesus in the form of a fish. The effect would be even greater if the fish was glowing because Jesus and other deities are often depicted as giving off light. This would at least cause surprise or shock.

Even with your “modifications” I still don’t get it.

Why would the guy need therapy? Seems like he’d be thinking “Wow! Cool fish!”.

Usually when I see a Jesus fish it’s on a minivan that is taking up two spaces at the front of a parking lot or has just drifted into my lane on the highway because the driver is too busy talking on her phone to look around.

To be fair, I should point out that that’s when I notice them. I probably see some on cars that aren’t driving in a selfish manner, too, but they don’t stand out.

George and Blinky the Wonder Wombat, the Mother Goose and Grimm joke does work. However, it’s missing something. The “Jesus” fish should be a living fish with “Jesus” tattooed on it. Bonus points if it’s one of those photoluminescent fish found in the deep sea.

I agree with George- i don’t see how hooking a Jesus fish would put a guy in therapy. If the fisherperson was a devout Christian, I image they would take it as a positive sign from God (”I will make you fishers of men”); a less devout angler would probably consider it the makings of another fish story.

You could toss a 100 of those metal fish into the nearest angler’s hangout and watch the fun. Once a month or so MG & G hits one completely out of the park, which (mostly) makes up for the lame puns we get the rest of the time (like the “expiring milk” plot this week-never even cracked a smile).

I didn’t get the Jesus Fish comic.

Why would it put “the guy in therapy”?

Fisherman occasionally hook an old license plate or other odd part, so a Jesus Fish wouldn’t be out of the question.
