What is the second strip? Sort of looks interesting.

Todd the Dinosaur. He’s an intelligent, speaking T. Rex (but childish) living with a contemporary American suburban family. Lightly amusing, not as wry as I think it intends to be.

It’s Todd the Dinosaur. It’s been so long since I’ve seen it that I’d completely forgotten it existed…

What on earth is a kebob? is it anything like a kebab?
Kilby Jul 17th 2010 at 04:32 am 5
@ Dave (4) - Personally, I’ve always spelled it “kabob” (usually prefixed by “shish”), but given that the source language is Turkish, it’s not surprising that there are a number of competing transliterations. In Germany (which has a significant Turkish minority), it’s normally spelled “kebap”.

ahh thanks for clearing that up Kilby.
that also confirms that I don’t get it!

Dave
Kilby is right to say there are a number of ways to spell - what frankly is a variety of ways to serve/sell spiced meat. Wikipedia gives a good range of the options - which are many.

@ Dave (6) - The soldier on the left is an American (note the flag in the 3rd panel), complaining about soldiers looting base equipment. The commander on the right is local (Afghan / Iraki, note the red beret), praising his men for creative ingenuity in reusing unneeded gear. Building a snack bar out of an ex-latrine sounds gross, but who knows? It might work, as long as the customers don’t get wind of the source.

sorry.. let me rephrase - i dont get the comic!
Dave Jul 17th 2010 at 07:00 am 10
sorry, should have refreshed the page.
thanks again Kilby. still doesn’t make sense though
Powers Jul 17th 2010 at 09:10 am 11
Kilby — it’s not an ex-latrine. That’s the problem.

A meat kebob would look, unfortunately, a little too close to the previous product in that building.
