Comic strips shouldn't have "sell-by" dates unless they are specifically intended as editorial comic strips. Six Chix is not. Pirk and Jeff S, I don't find this strip humerous so much as I find it a commentary of a past event as well as visually ironic. ( Economy crashes don't happen this way. ) Comic strips don't necessarily need to be humerous as long as they paint a mental picture and get one's imagination working on what certain situations would be like. Measures can be taken to prevent, delay, or mitigate the bad times, but recovery can only be influenced in minor ways. The Bush and Obama administrations both did what they could to make the recession as limited as possible; now it's just a matter of waiting.
