The Post recently decided to run "Cul de Sac," a strip that looks kid-oriented but really isn't, next to Doonesbury in a separate spot in their Style section. So I wonder how many kids reading the Post did get drawn specifically to the Sergeant Bitch strip.

Kilby - I do have to agree with most of your comments concerning the Post. As a matter of fact there were a number of blogs I read on the WaPo and it is down to just a couple now. There have been do many people that have "retired" and they haven't been replaced.

Ditto, I discovered CIDU from Cavna's blog several months ago. Since then I've promoted CIDU to the top of my "daily" links, whereas I've demoted Comic Riffs to an "occasional" list that I check at most once a week. I also like CIDU's RSS feed, which the Post does not offer at all.

Cavna writes well, but he gives too much space to animated movie coverage, and not nearly enough to the comics. Moreover, although he is on the Post's staff, he apparently has no influence at all with the people who actually make the editorial decisions for the Post's comic pages (both in print and on the web). Both Cavna and a number of readers (notably "Seismic-2") have offered sensible and obvious solutions to some horrifically idiotic existing conditions with the Post's comics, but the editorship either does not read the Comic Riffs blog, or they do not care what Cavna and the readers think.

Comic Riffs is always worth reading. Michael Cavna has the comic experience and connections to make it an interesting read. I wish he would cover strip comics more often than he does, but that's just my bent. It was from his blog that I originally came here as he recommends this site.
