The point is that the guys list has:

Golem
Boneless Chicken
Slug

The last one being *implied* by Wally's comment.

What the guy means is "Let's pretend you didn't see the insulting term "Slug" on my list".

Though why he's so sensitive after "lump, clod, or fool" ruins the joke.

I expected Wally's last comment to be more biting. I haven't seen Dilbert for a while, but I remember Wally always winning in every exchange of banter, his cruel uncaring logic crushing all before him.

I agree "Slug" is the obvious choice, but Scott Adams may be attempting avoid an altercation with the SLA (Slug Liberation Army).

"Slug" does seem to be the intended answer. I saw this comic a while back, and it seemed to make sense then, but not now. Why "Golem"? Seems like "Slug" would have worked so much better.

You pour salt on slugs. No doubt "slug" was on his list as well. Salt draws the water out of a slug's body, and as the slug's body is mostly water and they have practically no protection from the outside it's very easy to dehydrate and kill them this way. The practice is actually the joke in today's My Cage, in fact.
