Why did I just kill 10 min 56 sec watching that? “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue” it ain’t, nor is our lead dancer any threat to Gregory Hines. But it was good to remember that not everything Cole Porter wrote was worth listening to.
Help me out: why did you feature this number? What am I missing?
@ FBDF (3) - I don’t know where CIDU Bill lives, but it has gotten so hot on the east coast (40°C = 104°F) that the weather reports have made it across the Atlantic (although that was probably because of the power outages caused by massive air conditioner use).
Man, have times changed. When I was a young thing, professional dancing women were all virtually flat-chested. That’s not a bad thing. Too much jiggling hurts and those costumes didn’t look like you could wear a sports bra under them.
When I was a kid this song got me in trouble. The play was on TV and I saw it. Some days latter I said “darn”. My mom screamed at me. I told her I thought is was okay because it was in a song on TV. She insisted no song would have that word in it.

Fantastic! (But my favorite song is when Maria meets Tony at the dance.)

I think you’re talking about West Side Story not Kiss Me Kate.

Like as if people would really be dancing in 100 degree weather!
Why is it the heat doesn’t seem to bother physically fit people as much?

Any ideas as to what production of “Kiss Me Kate” this was? It’s clearly not the 1953 movie.
My best guess is that it’s the 1999 Broadway revival.

What are you all talking about? It’s 77 where I am. Freakishly cold. Should be in the 100 to 110 range.
It’s the coldest, wettest summer I can remember.

What? What were you watching?

@Morris: It’s the 2002 UK company (of the 1999 Broadway revival).

CIDU Bill, do you take requests? How about “Tain’t No Sin to Take Off Your Skin and Dance Around in Your Bones.”

Thanks a heap, Bill- that song’s gonna be stuck in my head for a week, plus. However, this does remind me of why I like musicals in the first place.

A month later, and the title phrase is still all too true!
