The Botany of Doubt

Timothy Carignan: Obviously, this is referring to a title or a phrase, perhaps as a spoonerism – but I just don’t get it.

This seems to be a weak joke based on the book title “The Botany of Desire.” You can read about the book here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Botany_of_Desire
All of this info is courtesy of Google. I haven’t read the book. So if there’s more to the joke, please enlighten me.

Nope; that’s it.

I’ve read The Botany of Desire. This cartoon has nothing to do with the content of the book. I think it’s just a weak joke on a variant of the title.

It’s also a movie/documentary:

Sounds like mutiny on the botany to me.

AMC’s comment is funnier than the comic.

Maybe it’s a combo of the Botany of Desire and the Salmon of Doubt - you know, from HHGTTG?
Ray Brady Jun 30th 2010 at 09:12 pm 8
I think it’s intended as a pun on the phrase “Litany of Doubt”.

Chakolate (7) Does this mean that there’s a Salmon of Desire out there? I’m not quite sure I want to meet that fish.

No, Elyrest? I’ve never been much for fish, but I would think that salmon-lovers find salmon desirable. Uh… waitaminnit….

I have to admit The Salmon of Doubt was the first thing that popped into my head. Never heard of The Botany of Desire.

Salmon flavored vodka anyone?

Loved the questionable use of the word “masticate” in the article.

I was thinking of “planting the seeds of doubt”, but now I’ll agree with _Botany of Desire_. Why he doesn’t trust the kale, though, I don’t get. Kale is a stand-up plant. It’s those creepy vine plants that you have to watch out for, zucchini will get you everytime.

I would have gone with “Mutiny of the Botany” as a caption.
