Dilbert: For When 9 Chickweed Lane is Just Too Subtle
Cidu Bill on Jun 2nd 2010

Nicole: Heh heh heh … he said masturbation … Heh heh heh
and I am not sure, but given Alice’s expression PHB may be indicating his genital area
But Dilbert DID say masturbation (heh heh)

Adams has in the past expressed great pride in pushing the envelope. In one, Dilbert returns from vacation and compares his warm little cubicle to the womb. The pointy-haired boss appears: “Mind if I poke my head in here?”

This is a CIDU. How is that “nicknames for partnerless loving” don’t “remind people of this general area of the human body”?

There are many unfortunate trademarks. For instance, Snap-On Tools (for the transgender auto mechanic).

That’s strap on, not snap on.

Chickweed Lane has an annoying tendency to replace jokes with innuendoes, whereas, Dilbert uses it to help jokes. I love Dilbert.

I had a feeling this comic would make it to CIDU today. Surprised how this one got by the censors!

It may have gotten by the censors …. but it didn’t get by me
(heh heh)

I love that PHB is not just pointing to his crotch but moving his hands.

Nothing much gets by you Nicole!!!!

I’m with Powers - the setup doesn’t make any sense.

I’m not buying it.
Names that remind people of this general area of the human body and funnier nicknames for partner-less loving are among the FIRST to be trademarked.
And no way would they faze Alice.

Elyrest #9 - Yeah … cause this was subtle … lots of room for interpretation here — I am surprised that Bill was not flooded with submissions for this as an Arlo Award … maybe he was.

cydu #10: from the strategic placement of the table corner, and the hand movements, I would say he took it out, and that’s why Alice is shocked.

A while back the entrance to one of the departments in Dilbert’s company (Accounting, maybe?) was clearly the business end of a large intestine. (Outgoing business, that is, since you ask.) Here at least he used words instead of pictures.

BTW, I was thinking that this strip was a bit exaggerated, and then a commercial for the new drug “Asiphex” came up on my TV.
Again life imitates Dilbert, and vice versa.

I’m thinking this was inspired by the jokes flying around when the iPad became known. Jokes about feminine hygiene products. Before the iPad, there was the iProd. Arloing: It’s not just for CIDU.

The first episode of the animated Dilbert show was pretty much this gag. All the good names have been taken, so they have a brainstorm, where the suggestions are limited to greek names, diseases and secretions.

Ah, the TV show. They had the perfect name for their product — “Acorn” — but to give the CEO a choice, they came up with the meant-to-be-rejected “Gruntmaster 9000.” At the fateful meeting, the CEO decided to regale the peons with an anecdote about summer camp, when he emerged from the freezing lake sans trunks and was forever traumatized by a hateful nickname . . .
For several episodes thereafter, they were working on the Gruntmaster.

I still giggle every time an “Aciphex” commercial comes on. I keep expecting “unusual flatulence” to be a side effect.
The Dilbert TV show did a great job of capturing the futility of it all.

Well, Anusol brand cream is supposed to be put guess where.

For annuals, yes? It soothes the pansy petals.

Well, Anusol brand cream is supposed to be put guess where.
Just the other day when I was examining my tube of Tucks brand ointment I noticed “Formerly Anusol” printed on it.

It’s discussions like this one that provide me the reason to check back here once a week.
