Took me a moment to get the Roman one, but it was quite clever, once I did.

I’ve never seen a “False Alarm Clock” gag before, but you would think it was an easy one to come up with. Seems like I should have seen it several times before.

Also, the Cyanide and Happiness and the one that follows it make a particularly amusing combo. (But maybe it’s just me.)

I for one don’t get the Kellycomics one with the Romans.

I liked the false alarmclock, though.

The Roman numeral for 50 is L.

LL Bean is a mail order retailer, focusing on camping/hunting gear/clothing.

Thank you Kamino Neko. It was going right passed me.

Good finds this time! Several had me laughing out loud (worth typing in full), especially the caged bird.

I’m not a fan of Cyanide and Happiness (though I don’t actively hate it), but that one was brilliant.

There was an old British comedy skit about Roman soldiers..
    Sergeant: count off!
    EYE!
    EYE EYE!
    EYE EYE EYE!
    EYE VEE!
    VEE!
    etc…

My 2 parakeets love to sing (or squawk, or chirp mostly) but I never thought about hula hoops. May stop by Petco today. :)

And I’m with JeffS. on the false alarm clock - I loved it, it took this long to come up with one?

    A … ha

Thanks. It’s one of the those things that don’t transfer cross the pond.

They don’t teach Roman numerals in Britain?

are things at fifty-fifty bean half off? or do you only get half the item?

Reminds me of Wick Fowler’s Two Alarm Chili. You can add extra hot stuff and make it Three Alarm Chili or Four Alarm Chili. If you make it with no hot stuff whatsoever, it’s called False Alarm Chili.

Reminds me of the story about the little kid who said he wanted to do a school report about the life of the activist “Malcolm the tenth”.

Wasn’t he the guy who became king of Scotland after Macbeth was killed?

At first glance I thought the rabbit ‘toon had to do with a war between Easter and St. Paddy’s, and the Easter Bunny was holding up St. Patrick’s head. So, anybody know a good therapist?

  18. Elyrest Mar 21st 2010 at 09:50 pm 18

padraig - Don’t worry too much. I thought the same thing.

  19. Usual John Mar 21st 2010 at 10:42 pm 19

Cidu Bill - No, that was Malcolm Three.

I would have found the Roman comic a lot easier to get on first reading if their “B” didn’t look so much like a “D.” Actually, a lot of fonts use nondistinctive letters (though not usually this particular one). Seriously, why do they do that?

Randy Milholland wrote of the Peter Rabbit comic, “This is what happens when I draw and paint for my own amusement.” I would say that drawing and painting for his own amusement worked out very well in that instance.

The Cyanide and Happiness strip is actually from quite a while ago, at least a year back. Someone must have discovered this gem (if you can call them that, even though I do enjoy their humor occasionally).

  21. mkilby Mar 22nd 2010 at 06:46 am 21

I agree with Usual John on the annoying font used by “Basket Case”: if they have to use a computer, they might as well go with Times Roman or Helvetica, instead of “faux” handwriting. I can understand why many comics use computer fonts, but I still prefer hand lettering (such as in “Rubes”, although I must admit that the font in Cyanide and Happiness is very tolerable).

At least none of them uses “Comic Sans” (see http://bancomicsans.com/main/).

Now didn’t Peter rabbit just amputate the hand that feeds him. Who plants the garden next year?

  23. Elyrest Mar 22nd 2010 at 11:42 pm 23

Steffen - No, the head that belongs to the hand.
