That’s hilarious. But I have to ask. How come the media doesn’t take on Fred Phelps in the same way? Is it because Phelps takes his “raging lunacy” to a much higher, sicker level?

    Satan needs an editor.

George P (4) - They say the devil is in the details. Maybe he got too detailed.

This made me laugh out loud. I love it!

Mark M, Fred Phelps does what he does specifically in order to get people so angry at him that they attack him. Then he and his family (they’re all lawyers, you know) sue and take everything the attacker owns. One of the ways they drum up rage is through the media. The media is no longer playing Westboro’s game and prefer to ignore him.

Pat Robertson, on the other hand, isn’t obviously trying to manipulate the media.

Robertson said the deal was just to get the French out, (They had to make a deal with the Devil to make the French retreat?) nothing about material wealth.

    – which kind of implies that he thinks the Haitians wouldn’t have had the ability to overthrow the French without dealing with the devil.

    Which is pretty damned insulting.

Well, to be fair, Satan has been known to be somewhat deceptive in arranging these contracts. The whole “evil” thing, you know.

I meant that Satan needs help with composition. That letter is horribly written.

    Satan makes some good points…

The Haitians really didn’t beat the French. (Beating Napoleon’s armies was really, really unusual for anyone.) Tropical diseases killed over half of them including the commander.

Yes, it was unusual to beat Napoleon’s armies, but even he met his Waterloo in a battle or two, something every military commander should remember.

Class …. a fine example of sarcasm :-P

@ Nicole (15), Charlene (7) - Pat Robertson is not “trying” to manipulate the media, he is succeeding in doing so. Even bad publicity is still publicity, and that is all that he needs to stay in the public’s eye. As long as he is visible, there will always be a few idiots who will send him money.
