The stratosphere, you mean? You know, the one that’s predicted to cool if more heat is retained by the growing concentrations of CO2. (Not that the Sun has been churning out more heat systematically, but if it had, that would have caused global warming AND stratospheric warming. Funny thing, there was a plan to send up a satellite to closely monitor the energy output from the Sun and the Earth - woulda answered once and for all the extent to which the Sun influences climate. The observatory was built and everything, but unfortunately it was backed by Gore, so the Bush-administration killed it first thing. Can’t have those pesky facts getting in the way of Teh Truth.)

Global warming alarmists basically shot themselves in the foot the day they started claiming, a la’ “The Day After Tomorrow,” that global warming (which is All Man’s Fault, never you MIND all the changes prior to the industrial age) would cause a new ICE AGE.

You’ll forgive us skeptics if we started making fun of GW fanatics while we shoveled two feet of Global Warming out of our driveways…..

Sili#14- Jeez, you gotta calm down. People are not going to voluntarily stop emitting carbon, you’d need a world-wide dictator to command it. Most people like technology, but won’t think of the long-term consequences. ( the electricity that allows me to send this very message is produced by burning fossil fuels) It’s hard to convince people of impending danger.

I never claimed that people should stop enjoying the fruits of technology over night. But that still does not mean that emitting CO2 is a good thing, and that we shouldn’t out best to stop it.

That’s one of the more amusing things about the Gore hate: if he lives a comfortable modern life, he’s a hypocrite; if he advocates living in teepees and holes in the ground, he’s a dirty hippie.

My point was not that the past 10 years prove there is no climate change. As I said before, climate does change over time, there’s ample proof of that. What the 10 years does question is why, while energy consumption and carbon production is expanding at exponential rates, there is not a correlation in temps?

12 years! Twelve! Look at the graph. The temperature topped in 1998. For God’s sake get your strawmen straight.

Talk about openmindedness, have you ever considered that there may be other reasons for the climate to change?

At the risk of engaging in tu quoque, have you? I find it very amusing how the the general tenor of the denial has moved from “there’s nooooooo warming - brrrrrr, I’m freezing” to “Duh! There’s warming, but weeeeee don’t have anything to do with it”. I can certainly see why I should take you talent of prophesy seriously. I’m sure William Miller would be very proud of you. (My answer, not that anyone cares, is yes, I have looked at the alternatives - those I know of at least - and none convince me. That’s the trouble with a background in the sciences - I actually know stuff.)
