Usual John: This XKCD is all about the implication a virus on a Windows machine is so 2003. Did viruses suddenly go away while I wasn’t looking? Am I stuck in 2003 too?
The metatext, lest anybody believe it helps, is “He says this is the year of Linux on the desktop! The world of Windows will fade any moment now!”

… but what’s the actual joke here? Clearly there’s some reference to Haiti here, but that’s as far as I can figure.

Nicole: For those who don’t follow the strip … the cloud is god and that is toilet paper next to him — I’ll let you figure the rest out.

“What’s the joke? Is there some kind of game where Henrietta and her female friend would want two males over, and Henry would want three females? “Doctor” is the only thing I can think of…”

“Comic strip characters used to be a little eccentric, but they weren’t deeply disturbed and borderline psychotic.”

Is there an actual joke here, or just a one-panel Mallard Fillmore strip?

Timothy Carignan: While not strictly “Arlo,” it’s still amazing that this got past the censors.

This amuses me for some reason; but I suspect there’ll be a follow-up in a few days revealing that this was all a hoax.

Jack Applin (one of several people to send this to me): I get the implication of “You’re in the marines? The army must have rejected you,” but the significance of the parking lot escapes me. Are Dr. Shipley’s marine skills doubled in parking lots, so he can easily kill Leo for this offense?

Earlier this month, we were all shocked — shocked, I say — by Mark McGwire’s admission that he was taking steroids the year that he suddenly bulked up and shattered Roger Maris’s home run record (though he insists he would have hit those 70 home runs anyway). Today, John Edwards confirmed that he is indeed the father of the two-year-old girl whose mother he was having affair with in the months before and after the child was conceived (in possibly the lamest deception in political history, one of Edwards’s staffers had claimed that he was the father. Edwards’s confession came about because the staffer has written a tell-all book. They just don’t make flunkies the way they used to).
So today’s question is, assuming these things come in threes, who will be the next public figure to come clean about something everybody already knew?

As opposed to “Billo’s and Tiger Woods’s Sex Addiction,” which would be unsettling on many levels.
