According to Wikipedia, “Is that a pistol in your pocket” is from the 1932 film “She Done Him Wrong”.

– Mae West, but it was in Sextette, in 1978, and so was the “gun in your pocket” line. But we knew about the “gun in your pocket” line long before, so she must have used it on stage in the 1920’s or 1930’s.

Frank the carmudgeon: So what if the line was used in the 1930’s. Sex existed and was well known since life began on this planet but try getting an image of two people having sex on a children’s program! ( or even in the newspaper comics )
