Yes.

That must be it. Unless she stabbed him for taking a bite out of it.

from the knife and fork lying on the floor next to the oven I’d say he cut himself. The bigger question in my mind is how on earth that turkey got cooked in the first place, since it’s quite obviously too large to fit in the oven.

LOL I didn’t even notice that, That’s Me!

That’s exactly the problem. It was never in the oven to be cooked in the first place. It was just sitting in front of it, at the perfect temperature to incubate as many bacteria as possible.
Or perhaps I’m overthinking a stupid joke.

It look’s like there are heat lines rising from it though. Has anyone ever wondered if they make these things intentionally vague so we have something to discuss?

I think the pop-up timer from the other cartoon popped up here and got Dad in the eye.

There’s got to be some significance to the phone being off the hook. If they’d called for an ambulance, why leave it off the hook? And who tests a turkey by carving a hunk out of it while it’s still in the oven? And even if the inside of the turkey wasn’t done yet, wouldn’t the bit underneath the skin be done already if it just needs “a few more minutes?”

He’s dyin’ of hunger, or so he says … to the point of getting an ambulance out there.

A phone off the hook = ‘just made phone call’ in comics land.
That turkey fits in the oven the same way Beetle Bailey survives being beaten by Sarge to the point of limbs bending in impossible angles. In other words it’s comics land.

I’m pretty sure he tried the turkey as soon as it came out of the oven. It was way too hot, so he got really bad burns on his mouth and had to call an ambulence. The wife is downplaying the seriousness by saying that the turkey needs a few more minutes–a severe understatement, therefore ironic and therefore supposed to be funny.

The turkey was so good that the father had a heart attack, and then the mom said that to buy time?
