Friday Morning Ewww
Cidu Bill on Nov 13th 2009

This one was sent to me by so many people, I’m not sure there’s anybody left to read it now.
And speaking of behinds… A lot of you have sent me comics over the past couple of weeks, but I’ve fallen ridiculously behind in dealing with it all. My apologies. Eventually I’ll find myself along, unbroken chunk of time, and that day you’ll probably se site updates several times an hour.

Gaping anuses. Classy stuff.

After getting over the revulsion, I do believe the caption should be ” How dogs see other dogs.” Apparently, they sense the world by odors, but aren’t fixated on other dog’s butts. But, it would still be an “Ewww.”

Weren’t the Gaping Anuses a punk band in the ’70s?
Rebecca Nov 13th 2009 at 10:08 pm 8
Aww, man, this is all wrong! They don’t stare at other dogs’s butts, they smell other dogs’s sent glands to identify them. They’re like dog business cards.

Honestly, Bill, I cannot wait until you start posting new things and keep this image from being the first thing I see when I open the page.

And here I thought this was how goats-see the world.

“I sniff big butts, and I cannot lie …”
Yeah, that poodle got back.

Rebecca - you read that Cracked article too? I found it interesting how many things they can tell about the other dog, like age and health.

Sniffing vs. looking — I think the cartoonist has it right on this point (if not general issues of tastefulness!). Notice the motion lines next to their noses, probably indicating sniffing. And the enlargement of the rear ends is for us a matter of visual emphasis of those parts because we’re such visual creatures, but is equally well an indicator of olfactory emphasis of those parts for the dogs.

multi-hourly updates
sounds exciting, you should make it like a thing
Paperboy Nov 14th 2009 at 02:49 pm 16
Pirk#15, I don’t think you have the Haiku form down.

Pirk#15, I don’t think you have the Haiku form down
There once was a girl from Japan
Whose Limericks never would scan
They start out okay
In a metrical way
Then she always tries to fit as many syllables into the last line as she possibly
can
Mark in Boston Nov 14th 2009 at 04:55 pm 18
Please don’t write Haiku
in the comments on this site.
Someone might get hurt.
Mitch4 Nov 15th 2009 at 09:36 am 19
Has the “Haiku Ewe” comic ever been featured here?
mike riley Nov 15th 2009 at 05:32 pm 20
THIS is hysterical. Even my dog laughed at it.
Aaron Nov 16th 2009 at 02:22 pm 21
Bill, didja know wordpress let’s you set a release date/time for posts. In my blog I often write several entries and then set the dates to automatically post throughout the week.
CIDU Bill Nov 16th 2009 at 02:32 pm 22
I know that, Aaron. That’s why the posts show up at 12:02 am. The problem is, when you set up the posts BEFORE the DST change, to appear AFTER the DST change, Wordpress sometimes screws up at puts the posts online an hour too early.
Programming glitch, obviously. Nothing I can do about it that wouldn’t be more trouble than it’s worth. On the other hand, there’s no real downside to posts appearing a bit early.
