I assume you’re impressed by the parked tank, not the yellow car. Impressive, unless there’s a car under the treads.
The first joke that came into my head doesn’t fit. She sees a tank in a handicapped space and dreads ticketing it, but then sees the driver with a cane and is relieved.
So perhaps simple logistical anxiety. Do I dare ticket while he’s glaring at me? Where do I put the ticket? How do we tow a tank?
Kedamono Nov 10th 2009 at 05:58 pm 2
Actually, it’s a towaway zone. You need a tank recovery vehicle to move that tank.

I think she’s just afraid of an old coot who drives a tank that goes just a little bit faster than her “metermaid mobile”.

It will certainly be difficult to put a boot on that tank, that’s for sure.
Dave Van Domelen Nov 10th 2009 at 07:14 pm 4
Who needs a boot? Tanks that old (assuming it’s the one he drove in the war) throw treads like nobody’s business. A few hits with a hammer in the right place and it’ll be undrivable until he can put the treads back together.

Tow-away zone. I think they’ll need a bigger tow truck.

What made this a LOL for me is the “Yeah, just TRY it” look he’s giving the officer.

There’s a REAL military laugh here, for those who know their acronyms. A TOW missile is an anti-tank missile (also used against other vehicles) so a sign that says “TOW Away! No Parking!” has a LOL twist. To me, anyway.

Sure better way to remember Vetrans’ Day than Funky did.
Stan Nov 11th 2009 at 04:54 am 9
I don’t know. I think this is an odd thing to print for Vet’s day. We’re always being told that vets fought for our freedom, law, order, what’s right, etc, and now that this soldier is back in the good ole’ USA, he just does whatever he wants because, in this case, he’s got the might to back him up.
Is the message here ‘Might makes right’? It kind of seems that way to me. “Damn your law and order when you’ve got the muscle I’ve got. I fought for our democracy, but it’s not like I’m bound by its conventions! Ha!”
Maybe I’m taking this too seriously.

Tanks don’t need to park in parallel. They can drive perpedicularly into the spot, and rotate there in place. (There’s no visible damage on the curb, but that’s irrelevant: there should be all sorts of track marks on the street, too, unless this tank was equipped with rubber treads).

I thought it was funny. I wouldn’t have the guts to ticket/tow an angry old man who drives a tank.

I’m just wondering what branch of the service that guy’s supposed to have been in. Either it’s also Veteran’s Day in Canada or he’s got his chevrons sewn on upside down.
Bullthistle Nov 11th 2009 at 11:17 am 13
WWI ended the same day for all. Armistice Day, Nov. 11.
FeelinOld Nov 12th 2009 at 02:21 pm 14
Not Veterans day in Canada, we call it Remembrance Day (I think it was changed from Armistice day after WWII, but it’s been a few years since my last history class)
And I had the same thoughts on parking as mkilby, a tracked vehicle is pretty easy to ‘parallel’ park.

Wait, where is her little cart?
She’s very tall
