I interpreted this that Arlo is going forth with his plan to “find out what these loose keys fit”. He verified where this particular key fit, and has to explain why he used it.

Yes- that was my understanding. The neighbour is sitting in his kitchen eating breakfast, and Arlo semi-breaks-in to his house in a slightly startling way… hardly an LOL, but made me smile.

The key was probably from two owner/neighbors previous.

Maybe Janis didn’t *tell* Arlo where she got all those keys, and is now trying to play it off.

I’m with TasmanSea. It gave me a chuckle, too, imagining this scene in the last panel. And the bunch of unlabeled keys in their drawer just shows that Jimmy Johnson is once again peering into our windows.

exactly what TasmanSea said. I have a whole drawer full of keys of unknown origin. I keep threatening to empty it, but what if I later find out I need one of them?

I believe the first three nailed this one. For me, the last panel was a slight LOL, just seeing the inanity in picture form. I especially like the third comment’s take on this in that case.

When we moved we looked at all the keys ont he key rack in the kitchen, and just took the whole thing off the wall, wrapped it and moved it. Now most of the doors those keys fit are 8 hours away, but if anyone needs the key to Fred and Maureen’s, I have it!
