“Tuesdays, Thursdays, and especially Saturdays,” and that’s funny.

Yup! Heard it in Danish. And now I'm sure who stole it.

Disappointing. Once I learnt of The Two Ronnies I realised they'd been victims too. Very disappointing actually, since he was one of my favourite comedians.

I can understand the slight change: This version was apparently in front of a British audience, so they might not have made the same connection with the word "restricted." And of course the revised version happens to work a lot better on this side of the pond as well, several decades later.

Another difference I noticed was that he didn't say "Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays" the second time, assuming the audience knew it was coming anyway. I'm not crazy about this change because in the original version, when he says that line the second time, he says (referring to driving with Jews strapped to his fender) "Tuesdays, Thursdays, and especially Saturdays," and that's funny.

Yeah, I think about these things too much.

The first Woody Allen routine I ever heard (muffle, muffle) years ago . Brilliant delivery. The version I am familiar with is a bit different - the last line being "because it's restricted". I owe my love of Prokofiev to Woody.

This is a wonderful joke - like a symphony.
I heard a story that Jackie Gleason heard Woody Allen doing this. He was sitting with someone else and predicting each turn of the routine, he predicted everything - until the final punch line. He didn't see that coming!

I've heard that joke before, but I'm almost sure it was stolen and translated into Danish.

The punchline was new, though. To me at least. I'm glad it's an old punchline.

"I was kidnapped once. I was hanging around the schoolyard, and this big car drove up, and the men in it told me they would take me to a magical land where everyone was elves and fairies and I could have all the Hershey bars and wax lips I wanted, and I was home from college that week so I figured what the hell...." -- Woody Allen

This may be my all-time favorite Woody Allen bit. I did a loose translation of it for my 10th grade Spanish class, many years ago. It's still funny.
