Isn’t that a tube top?
Zen GPS got the biggest laugh out of me.

I love the Zen GPS one, that’s great. I really like xkcd, but I’m a history buff so I get it.

That’s definitely not a halter top.

Our government has certainly declined over the years-the taunt at the Lincoln speech is absolutely erudite in comparison to “You lie!”
Kate C Sep 28th 2009 at 10:43 am 5
Oh my Lord, that control freak one is cracking me up!
Scott Sep 28th 2009 at 11:34 am 6
From now on this thread is a Ewww. one.
Its Justme Sep 28th 2009 at 02:33 pm 7
But the “you lie!” taunt is so succinct. And accurate.

Its JustMe, I sure wish your name was accurate…

“I really like xkcd, but I’m a history buff so I get it.”
You don’t need to be a history buff to get that one. Unless you’re not American.

Fired … Don’t worry about Just’s name. The fact that his observation is valid is cauise to worry.
DSkinner Sep 28th 2009 at 11:49 pm 11
Right on Justme.
mkilby Sep 29th 2009 at 01:29 am 12
Can we please talk about comics, and leave the political dissing to Rush Limbaugh?
Henry Sep 29th 2009 at 04:07 am 13
mkilby: Your MOM should talk about comics, and leave the political dissing to Rush Limbaugh!
tpjim Sep 29th 2009 at 07:40 am 14
Does pointing out that Stephen Douglas died in 1861, more than two years before the Gettysburg address was delivered, make me a control freak, a Zen driver, or a tube-topped Carmen Miranda mountain man? Xkcd is usually pretty good about accuracy (within the context of the joke, anyway).
Powers Sep 29th 2009 at 08:46 am 15
Randall mentions that fact in the alt-text, tpjim. He says you should be reading “Hark! A Vagrant”.

Dear Its Justme, Frankie the C & DSkinner,
Your desperate, tawdry mendacity has aroused me.
Let’s whip our shirts off and get to wrestlin’.
Sweaty,
FMA
Its Justme Sep 29th 2009 at 04:38 pm 17
FMA - That’s what she (your MOM) said!
tpjim Sep 30th 2009 at 09:13 am 18
@Powers: D’oh. Should have checked out that alt text. And yet, Randall’s MOM should be reading H!AV, because:
“Douglas actually died soon after the debates and election…”
Whoops: the Lincoln-Douglas debates were in 1858, and Douglas won that race, for US Senate from Illinois. (And yeah, 1861 sure counts as “soon after” 1858, but the main comic specifically refers to 1860.) So, in conclusion: tpjim 10, xkcd 8. *Does little victory dance*
