So what is that guy doing in the first panel, tweeting about the wedding using a telegraph?

If it’s a telegraph, he’s poking the wrong end. Other than that tidbit, I got nuthin.

Yes, he’s tweeting with a telegraph. You have to read “Girls With Slingshots” to get the rest of this story.

This character (the bride’s grandfather) is introduced in this strip: http://www.daniellecorsetto.com/archive.php?today=784&comic=766

The bride is obsessed with blogging/livejournaling, and it was a joke during the wedding planning that most of her guests hadn’t actually met her in real life.

In the strip James links to, it’s a gag that her family members similarly revolve around technology in leiu of actual interaction.

We’e seeing this through his drunken perception; drunks are funny; ergo: Ha Ha !

I thought maybe he was clipping his fingernails with a large set of clippers. But telegraph fits in more with the general surrealism of the strip.

Is Twitter by Telegraph an iPhone app yet?

DPWally - no, but give it another 20 minutes.

Thanks to James and Kate C. Can you, or anyone else who follows Girls with Slingshots, explain what’s going on with the other GwS characters?

    My skills are needed! W00t!

Usual John - In the second panel you have Candy - the Rubenesque best friend of the groom, whom no one else in the strip can stand (and the feeling is mutual) and Maureen’s maid of honor, her Live Journal BFF (who’s blind and who’s name I can’t recall). The clowns are the groom’s parents. And the cactus - that’s McPedro (who is awesome).

I rarely have any idea what’s going on in this strip.

As to the 1st panel, I thought he was loading a gun.

And the cat is more or less a real life lolcat.

Thanks, Freezer. Kate C, the cat is Choo-Choo Bear from Something Positive, so I’m familiar with him. In addition to being an occasional strip character, he often serves as a sort of voice of the artist; I take it McPedro is something similar? Is there any particular reason why the groom’s parents are dressed as clowns? Are they always dressed that way?

Usual John- that gets an explanation here: http://www.daniellecorsetto.com/archive.php?today=785&comic=783

His parents are clowns, and that’s how they dress up, it seems.
