The Zits has a second joke:
There is a pretty good size Eiffel Tower replica at King's Island near Cincinnati, where Jim Borgman is an editorial cartoonist. It's 1/3 scale, but that's still 350' tall. But I don't think Jeremy could get his van to it without running over quite a few people.

I can assure that the RETAIL strip is not far fetched at all. It's only happened in my store once (that I know of), but it has happened. I agree it makes no sense, but when there's a pile of shit laying on the bench in the fitting room there's no denying the reality of the situation.

Re: Retail: The lady should have been portrayed in a way that suggested she was a recent immigrant from a poor country, then it might have made more sense for her to mistake the changing room for a restroom. And that is what happened, otherwise she would have said someone had an accident in the changing room.
My question is, who discovered the leavings and is asking for clean-up assistance? One would think the customer would notify the first employee she came across.

@Karen... I used to work in the stockroom of a JCPenney's while in college. One day, I got called to show up at the entrance of the store with a mop. We had an elderly gentleman go in his pants, and apparently it slipped out of his underwear, down his pants leg, and onto the floor, where he promptly stepped in it and tracked it through the entire store. :(

I can't begin to describe the fun I had at that job... really, I can't. Ever.

Wait... is GymJustice, with his comment and his name, purposefully trying to sound like the dweeb who went into the gym and killed lots of ladies a couple of months ago? If so, how tasteless!

I saw that Bizarro in the paper and thought "aren't they known for eating their _mates_?", which immediately moved that one into the Ewww category for me.

I used to work in a Woolworth's, in the ladies' clothing department. We had changing rooms...and yes, they did get "mistaken" for restrooms on occasion. We found wet patches on the carpet, and actually the candy aisle one day got mistaken for a restroom as well. We had to call the stockroom guy out with the mop, because somebody found a large, human turd on the floor.

Humans are disgusting creatures sometimes.

Dilbert reminds me of the "I Am Rich" app, that did nothing but glitter and attract attention to itself. Those who knew of the $999 price tag on it would presumably have been impressed by the sheer amount of money and hubris involved.

Would that woman have been impressed with that app?

Well, Powers' links suggests that sort of thing has happened before, but it certainly doesn't show that that's what's happening here. (It's possible that's what the artist intended, but to me it's clear as mud.) I'm also not sure that we're supposed to think that the customer is the culprit. We could, but I just don't know. All of which makes it less of a LOL for me, but if people got this right off the bat, I'm sure it was all sorts of funny!

@Dan and others -- Yes, there's something a bit implausible about the encounter in "Retail". But some of that implausibility comes from taking the customer as a confused innocent, and diminishes when we realize she's the culprit -- as Powers's link suggests. I like furrykef's elucidation of the apparent backstory (so to speak). I would add that possibly she was taken short and was in a panic, and knew what she was doing but thought she had to anyway. She wants to report it so the store can do a cleanup (rather than leaving it to another customer to discover), but won't make a full confession and instead comes up with this somewhat inane remark.
