Haha. That’s more or less the same thing I said, Bill. If this were Tiffani saying something like this, she would be trashy and desperate.

And I wanted to submit yesterday’s strip to you, although I couldn’t really figure what category it would fit in. What caught my eye is that Luann is referred to as a “librarian,” despite the fact that she is merely a volunteer at a library. Does that make me a doctor ’cause I used to volunteer at a hospital?

I don’t read Luann at all and only have contact with it hear but
has the artwork DRASTICALLY changed recently or am I remembering
a different strip?

Luann used to be about four years younger and much rounder. Well, rounder in a different way. So, yes the style has changed slightly.

Another factor is that Luann has spent the past three weeks of strips suspecting that this entire “report” is just some excuse by Quill to spend time with her. So she thinks this may actually be a casual date. If you take that as a given, in that context it’s QUILL’S line that’s in Arlo territory, and Luann is trying to figure out how to handle it.

I’m just happy that Luann is finally considered to be cute enough to attract a boy, because earlier this summer she replaced the bimbo in the dunk tank and all the boys ran away rather than see Luann in a wet t-shirt.

Style has changed considerably over the years. I don’t know if Evans has turned a corner (which happens, usually for the good) or if he’s hired assistants, but it is an improvement over a few years ago (and certainly over 10+ past).

Note that Luann’s expression is completely deadpan (a nice touch), maybe a little overwhelmed. If Tiffany had said it it would be with batting eyelashes and a smirk, an obvious double entendre. But Luann isn’t coming onto him; she truly doesn’t know what it is he wants to see.
