The xkcd about the windows file copy dialog guy explains so much …. brilliant!

He’s just running on Microsoft Standard Time.

The Windows file copy was a huge LOL! It also applies to transferring from old Mac to new. I did this recently and the final tally was the original time it said it would take, but during the transfer I got messages just like the driver in the cartoon gave.

Old people give their animals funny names.

I think hatching still counts as being born, right? Or would the date the egg was laid actually be the birthday? We should ask Operation Rescue on this one.

I dunno about the Wizard of Id. It’s kind of an Arlo to me, since the arrow tip looks less like a suction cup and more like a, um, prophylactic device.

Yes, they drew the “suction cup” backwards. Bizarre.

Do firing squads only use one blank? I thought it was only one real round, or at least more blanks than real, so that any shooter could reasonably assume he wasn’t the one who fired the lethal shot.

The copier one reminds me of a similar comic that someone had posted over out copier (a Xerox, possibly. Remember those?):

It showed an image of monk unconscious on the floor near a table with his quill in his hand and a stack of parchments on the table. Two other monks were standing at the door to the room. One was explaining to the other, “The copier’s down.”

Pinny, Xerox is alive and well. I used one today. But I don’t think people call it “xeroxing” any more, which may be what you were thinking of. Anyway, your joke reminds me of another copier joke (”Strange Brew”, I think) where three guys are each holding a cartridge of one of the colors used in color copying while they stare at a copier. The caption reads: “The three toners”.

By this definition birds aren’t born

No reason they couldn’t wish Donald a happy hatchday, though.

According to xkcd, birds don’t normally know it’s their birthday.
